When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile information from your OAuth provider (Google, Discord, or GitHub). This is the minimum we need to set up your account.

Payment Information

Payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We never store your credit card number on our servers. Stripe provides us with a customer ID and basic transaction details (amount, date, status) so we can manage your subscription.

Server Data

When you use our hosting service, we store your game server files — world saves, configurations, mods, plugins, and any other files you upload or that your server generates.

Usage Data

We collect basic usage data to improve the platform, including pages you visit, server activity (start/stop events, resource usage), and general interaction patterns with the dashboard.

Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. That's it. See the Cookies section below for more details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

• Provide the service— create and manage your account, provision and run your game servers.
• Process payments— handle subscriptions, billing, and refunds through Stripe.
• Send service emails— welcome emails, payment confirmations, server status notifications, and important account updates. These are not marketing emails; they're essential to running the service.
• Improve the platform— understand how people use kranky.io so we can make it better.
• Comply with legal requirements— respond to legal requests and prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Stripe— payment processing. Stripe has its own privacy policy.
• Google— OAuth sign-in and Google Analytics for usage data.
• Discord— OAuth sign-in.
• GitHub— OAuth sign-in.
• AWS (Amazon Web Services)— cloud infrastructure where your game servers and data are hosted.
• Modrinth— mod browsing and installation (only accessed when you browse or install mods).

4. Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored on AWS infrastructure in the US East region.
• All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
• Our databases are encrypted at rest.
• We follow industry-standard security practices, but no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Data Retention

• Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days.
• Server data (game files, world saves) is deleted 7 days after your subscription ends.
• Logs (server logs, access logs) are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted.
• Payment records are retained as required by tax and financial regulations.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data— you can view your account information in your dashboard at any time.
• Delete your account — email us at meow@kranky.ioand we'll delete your account and associated personal data.
• Export your server files— use the built-in file manager to download your game world files, configs, and any other server data at any time.
• Opt out of marketing emails— if we ever send marketing emails (we currently don't), you can unsubscribe with one click. Service-related emails (payment receipts, server alerts) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.

7. Children's Privacy

kranky.io is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at meow@kranky.io and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.

8. Cookies

We keep our cookie usage minimal:

• Session cookies— essential for keeping you logged in and maintaining your session. These are strictly necessary and cannot be disabled.
• No third-party tracking cookies— we don't use third-party tracking cookies. Google Analytics is configured to use first-party cookies only.

We don't show a cookie banner because we only use essential cookies that are required for the service to function.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we'll notify you by email before the changes take effect. We'll also update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
